Jennifer Lopez: My Style Icon

Every time I see a picture of Jennifer Lopez I am stunned, she amazes me because she is always so on point, she wears the most amazing, stand out clothing and her hair and makeup is flawless, not to mention she is 45 and has the body of a Goddess. I've talked about her style in some of my previous posts but this year I have seen her looking phenomenal in some beautiful attire and I feel the need to express how much I adore her style.
Jennifer Lopez is my ultimate fashion icon and what I love about her is that she always surprises me. Don't get me wrong I love Kim Kardashians style, but it's quite predictable and we see her up and down our news feeds every day, where as J.Lo isn't quite as publicised as she once was but when she does make an appearance, she will be seen wearing something exciting and unique, she isn't afraid to experiment with bright colours and prints and different styles, which is a far cry from Kims tight dresses and 'all black everything'.

Below I have put together some of my favourite J.Lo looks, a lot of which are from American Idol shows in which she is a judge.

This image is a appeared on my Instagram today and made me want to write this post. Here J.Lo is back in 2011 at the Fox Searchlight Golden Globes party looking as beautiful as ever in a Marchesa feathered dress and Christian Louboutin heels.

From neutral to bold. Here is J.Lo in May of this year at a American Idol results show wearing a tangerine dress by Bec & Bridge and Christian Louboutin heels and she has gone for natural looking make up with an orange lipstick that coordinates with her dress.

J.Lo has been seen wearing a lot of leopard print in her time but this mini dress and blazer combo has got to be my favourite. I done some research and found this 2 piece is from fashion stylist Rachel Zoes pre-fall 2013 collection, she teamed the sequin dress with glossy black heels and sleek straight hair.

I have never watched American Idol but I think it might be worth a viewing just to see what J.Lo is wearing. Here she wears a sequin Fyodor Golan dress and gold Casadei pumps. I love the iridescent colours and how the style of the dress hugs her figure but I can't help thinking mermaid...in a good way!

J.Lo channels 'Clueless' in a mini snakeskin dress complete with a cute matching bag and heels, all from D Squared 2.

She looked incredible at the 2014 Fashion Rocks event wearing a revealing cut out dress by Versarce, she wore huge hoops in contrast with the gold in her dress, a slick ponytail and warm toned smokey eyes.

One of J.Lo's most talked about moments this year has got to be when she walked the red carpet at the VMAS looking a million dollars wearing that sparkling sivler Charbel Zoe gown. She let the dress do the talking as she wore understated makeup and sleek straight hair.

MAC Lipstick Collection

As you may have guessed from my previous posts MAC is my favourite brand of makeup. MAC are renowned for their prodigious lipstick collection. The quality and variety of MAC lipsticks is fantastic, the price ranges from £13.50 - £15.00 but the back 2 mac programme has helped me to build my collection quicker and cheaper.

(L-R Pure Zen, Pink Pearl Pop, Snob, Pink Plaid, Merh, Chatter Box, Girl About Town, Candy Yum-Yum, MAC Red)

'Pure Zen' - Described by MAC as 'frosted warm nude'. I would say this colour is a 'pinky peach' and it is the most neutral colour in my collection as it is pale and quite sheer which makes it great for a day time look. However it can also be used in an evening look, for example if I am wearing a smokey eye I usually prefer a more muted colour on my lips so I will use this paired with MAC Cremestick lip liner in 'Pink Treat'.

'Pink Pearl Pop' - Described by MAC as 'frosted midtonal pink'. This is a very girly lipstick, its a Barbie like pink with shimmer and it's quite sheer and has a glossy finish. I would say it is versatile and easy to wear day and night. Once over this would probably have been my favourite lipstick but I now prefer neutral colours.

'Snob' - Described by MAC as 'light neutral pink' and think it may be a satin' finish. I would say this is a very pale pink with purple undertones. Although this is a popular colour from MAC personally I am not a fan and I find that it really washes me out and I think this is because it is not suited to my skin tone.

'Pink Plaid' - Described by MAC as 'dirty blue-pink'. This lipstick is a neutral colour, it is similar to 'Snob' but darker, I haven't used this colour a lot and I think this may be because it was my first lipstick with a matte finish and on first impressions I didn't like how it left my lips feeling dry, however since then I have used other matte lipsticks and it doesn't bother so I am going to wear it more often as it a great every day colour.

'Merh' - This is also described by MAC as 'dirty blue-pink' and has a matte finish but I would say this darker and more brown than 'Pink Plaid'. I wear this with MAC Cremestick lip liner in 'Pink Treat' they are the perfect match and together the work a dream. This is my favourite lipstick because it so wearable and since buying I have used it almost every day and night.

'Chatter Box' - Described by Mac as 'bright red-pink' and is a amplified creme finish. This is one of my favourites in my collection, I would say it is quite a neutral pink and is a perfect everyday lipstick because it is so easy to wear. I like the finish of this lipstick because it is very pigmented as it is amplified but at the same time it keeps my lips feeling moisturised.

'Girl About Town' - Described by MAC as 'bright blue fuchsia'. This is a very popular lipstick from MAC, I would say this colour is like a berry pink but can look more red on camera. It has an amplified creme finish which means its super pigmented and applies so smoothly. This isn't a colour I wear very often but it looks great on the right occasion.

'Candy Yum-Yum' - Described by MAC as 'neon pink' and thats exactly what it is! This colour stands out a mile at the makeup counter and when I first seen it I fell in love and had to have it. This is another popular colour from MAC but again not something I would wear everyday, however I wore it religiously on holiday this year, its such a bold and bright colour which makes it perfect for summer. It is a matte finish so like I said previously it can be drying on the lips - but it looks so good I don't care! I must also mention this lipstick will leave a temporary pink stain on your lips after wear but that isn't a problem for me.

'MAC Red' - This is described by MAC as 'vidid bright bluish-red' and is a satin finish. Everyone needs a red in their lipstick collection and for me one is enough as I am not particularly a fan on red lips. I bought this a long time ago and I'm not sure why I chose this over the other reds in the collection but it does seem to be a popular choice. If a classic red lip with no shimmer and no frost is what you are looking for I would recommend this to you.

Luxury Makeup Wish List

I have posted makeup wish lists in the past but this time I thought I would do something different. As you may already know I love MAC makeup, but lately I have been wanting to experiment with some different brands which I haven't already tried. High end brands can be very expensive and sometimes I can't justify spending so much on a makeup item, especially when I can not sample a product before buying. However if I was to splurge out on any makeup products the following would be at the top of my list. I enjoyed researching products for this post so I am sure I will be writing an updated post in the future.

Tom Ford Bronzing Powder in 'Terra' - Tom Ford is definitely one of the most pricey makeup brands I have came across but none the less I am dying to get my hands on their luxury products. At the top of my Tom Ford wish list is this matte bronzer, I have been seeing it a lot recently in magazines and blogs and I have heard some fantastic reviews. At £68.00 this may seem extremely over priced for a bronzer however it contains 21 grams of product which would last much longer than an average size bronzer. From the information I have gathered this bronzer seems very much worth the investment if you are a makeup junkie like my self.

Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'N' Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil in 'Bedroom Black' - After falling in love with Charlotte Tilburys 'Light Wonder' foundation I have been desperate to try more from her collection. I was shopping in Harvey Nichols in Leeds recently and was so excited to see there was a new Charlotte Tilbury counter which wasn't there on my last visit. I couldn't walk away with nothing so I chose some lovely products which I have to wait for because they are Christmas presents. Those products would have made it to this list if I didn't already own them so instead the next item I hope to buy from CT is her Rock 'N' Kohl eyeliner which I have seen her using in the majority of her Youtube makeup tutorials. This looks like a really great eyeliner, if I was to buy this I would use this to line my waterline, I am yet to find an eye pencil which is long lasting and this one sounds impressive and from the tutorials it looks like a product which is easy to work with. There are a selection of colours to choose from but my first choice would be 'Bedroom Black' because I think black eyeliner is a necessity and would work wonders with a smouldering smokey eye.

Dior 'Rose Diamond' Highlighter - I first discovered this on Tanya Burrs Youtube channel and I have admired it ever since, however after including this in my wish list I did some more research and I realised that this product has actually been discontinued. I'm sure I could find a dupe for this highlighter but I must admit I'm not crazy for highlighting and I think that the correct eyeshadow can have the same effect. My main reason for including this in my wish list is because I have been wanting to try out some more Dior makeup and this stood out from the collection, all their products looks beautiful but I can't think of anything in particular I have heard rave reviews about, so I am going to do some research on their best sellers before I purchase anything.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 'Rose Opera' - Why wouldn't I want this lipstick? The packaging is to die for, I couldn't just throw it in my makeup bag I would have to have it on display on my dressing table. This lipstick has been at the back of my mind for a while now but I have a tendency to stray towards the MAC counter and save my self £10.00 on a lipstick.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer - I am forever searching for the ultimate product to conceal my dark under eye circles and I am yet to find it. This is another product that has been popping up on blogs and Youtube tutorials, I don't know a lot about it but I have seen it being used as an under eye concealer as well as a foundation and the coverage and highlight looks fantastic. The price is around £37.00 which is very expensive for a concealer but if I knew this was guaranteed to cover my loathed dark circles I wouldn't think twice about buying it.

Tom Ford Lipstick in 'Spanish Pink' - Like I said before I am just dying to get my hands on some Tom Ford and 'Spanish Pink' looks like the perfect shade of pink which I haven't been able to find. The packaging is so slick and classy which is a seller for me but I must admit it would pain me to spend £37.00 on a lipstick, so if anyone is struggling to find me a christmas present, look no further.

Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body -  The story behind this is that when Charlotte was working back stage at fashion shows and photo shoots, herself and other artists would mix foundation and highlighter together and apply the mixture to models to create the illusion of slimmer looking legs, a more defined decolletage and arms and an airbrushed finish. Charlotte then decided to create this product in the form of a fuss free roller ball which makes for quick and easy application. If anyone knows how to sell a product its Charlotte Tilbury, she described this product as the 'perfect way to cheat your dream body' and it seems that many agree as it has fantastic reviews and is used by none other than Kim Kardashian who said the product is 'legendary'. If its good enough for Kim its good enough for me.

Recent OOTD

This is an outfit I wore for a night out recently and is something very different to what I would usually wear. I ordered this jumpsuit online and wasn't sure if I was going to love or hate it when it arrived, in the meantime I seen in hanging up in H&M and to be honest, it looked awful! H&M deliveries can take a while so it came about 2 weeks after I ordered it, I bought a size 10 which was too big and unflattering so I took it to the store to exchange for a size 8, which they didn't have in stock so I bought a size 6 which surprisingly fit me and looked much better. I think this boiler suit style jumpsuit is suppose to be a loose and casual fit but which isn't really my style, I prefer a tighter and neat fit. The colour is a khaki green which isn't a colour I would regularly wear especially on a night out, I usually wear quite bright and bold colours or something really girly. This is why I decided to spice it up a bit with my orange court shoes, which again I wasn't sure would work but I like the pop of colour they bring to the outfit. My jewellery was very basic I wore my gold YSL logo earrings which I am loving at the minute and a simple gold chain. For my makeup I went quite bold with really smokey bronze/black eyes and pink lips, I curled my hair with GHD's which I clipped back but later decided to let it fall naturally.

New Makeup Haul

MAC 'Mehr' Lipstick - I specifically went to the MAC counter for a lipstick because I had mentioned in my previous wish list post that I was looking for a colour similar to what Kylie Jenner had been sporting. When browsing lipsticks and eyeshadows I reach for the colours that catch my eye and because I was looking for a 'dark browny pink' shade I instantly picked 'Mehr' up, which is not a colour I had mentioned in my wish list. I swatched the colour on my hand and I really liked the look of it but before buying I asked one of the makeup artists to show me 'Velvet Teddy' which she then told me is out of stock, I didn't want to walk away with out a lipstick so I decided on Mehr as I thought it was closest to the colour I had been looking for, possibly a little darker but I love it. In my wish list I had also mentioned the colours 'Faux' and 'Twig' but after doing more research I thought 'Faux' was too light and sheer and 'Twig' was lighter than I was looking for too but I would possibly buy that in the future. MAC describes this colour as 'dirty blue pink' which is an interesting way to describe it. I usually don't like to buy MAC lipsticks instead I wait until I have 6 empty containers so that I can earn a free lipstick through the 'Back to MAC' programme but unfortunately this time I was 2 short of a free lipstick!

MAC 'Pink Treat' Cremestick Liner - After choosing a lipstick I asked the makeup artist to match up a lip liner. She asked me if I was going for the 'Kylie Jenner look' which I'm sure is a frequently asked question at the counter, she then told me that this is in fact the lip liner Kylie uses herself and luckily it was in stock. I'm so pleased with this liner it is so easy to use because it glides on so smoothly and it stays in place and lasts much longer than any other liner I have used.  I have been using MAC 'Dervish' lip pencial for some time now which wears off very easily so I would definitely recommend the MAC Cremestick liners over the regular lip pencils which are the same price.

In this picture I am using both 'Pink Treat' cremestick liner and 'Mehr' lipstick

MAC 'Girlie' Eyeshadow - I couldn't leave the counter with out picking up an eyeshadow to fill a space in my palette. I was looking for a dusky pink colour mostly to use for a simple everyday look instead of using browns and neutrals. I probably could have picked a better colour but it was a last minute decision however I used it last night as a base colour for a smokey eye and I was pleased with the outcome. This colour is described as 'rosy-pink with subtle shimmer'.

In this picture I have incorporated 'Girlie' eyeshadow in a smokey eye along with MAC 'Quarry' 'Sketch' 'Mulch' 'Gleam' 'Shroom' eyeshadows, MAC liquid eyeliner, Barry M Lash Vegas Mascara and I used my HD Brow and Eye palette to fill in my eyebrows.

MAC Liquid Eye Liner -  I always buy MAC liquidlast eye liner and I swear by it but this time I thought I would go for something different, which was a mistake. Although I am getting use to the different applicator which possibly makes for a more precise finish than the liquidlast brush, I find this liner smudges and wears off easier when worn on its own with out eyeshadow.

I also repurchased 2 of my must have and favourite makeup products which are the MAC Pro Concealer Palette and Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation.

Moschino S/S15 Barbie Collection

I couldn't not write a post on the recent Moschino fashion show for their Spring Summer 2015 collection in which Jeremy Scott looked to Barbie for his inspiration. I must say I love the collection, it bought me back to my childhood and how could I not love it when everything is so pink! I adored everything in the show from the leather co-ordinates and exquisite evening dresses to the Barbie T-Shirt and that phone case every girl now wants.

Below I have put together some of my favourite looks and pieces from the show.

24/09 OOTD

blouse - Warehouse
skirt - River Island
shoes - River Island

I have recently been buying my first winter purchases including this leather skirt, I wore it for the first time on this day and seen as though winter hasn't hit us just yet, I brightened the skirt up with some neon colours. I love this skirt its really comfortable and a great fit and I can see my self wearing it a lot through out the winter as it can be worn day and night time. The orange shoes are also a recent purchase, I seen them and had to have them I am obsessed with points and want a pair in every colour. Surprisingly these shoes look great with a lot of outfits as colour clash is on trend. I opted for silvery chunky jewellery with this outfit which I borrowed from my mam. I wore my hair in a wavy pony tail and went for a neutral makeup look with a bold lip using MAC 'Candy Yum-Yum' lipstick which is the same colour as my blouse.

September Makeup Wishlist

Again it has been a couple of weeks since I last wrote a blog post and thats because I have been so busy but I'm back and I have a lot to talk about. I have a few posts lined up but I wanted to start with this one because I feel like I haven't talked about makeup for such a long time and I am dying to splurge at some of my favourite makeup counters.

MAC 'Velvet Teddy' Lipstick - I have always went for pink lipsticks but lately I have preferred a nude/brown lip colour and my main inspiration for that is Kylie Jenner, not only am I obsessed with her wardrobe but I love her makeup, in particular her lips. I've done some research on what lipstick Kylie uses and three colours from MAC come up they are called; 'Faux' 'Twig' and 'Velvet Teddy'. I was pleased to know that the lipstick she uses are MAC because it is my favourite brand and I am wanting to expand my collection. I think I will go for 'Velvet Teddy' because I think that colour will suit me best but the next time I am at a counter I will be asking for some advice on what I should go for to achieve the colour I am hoping for.

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder - This is a product I have wanted to get my hands on for ages. I recently bought MAC 'Matte Bronze' bronzing powder and after using it for a while I have decided I am not happy with the colour, I think the product is good for contouring but not for an all over bronze glow. Terracotta bronzing powder is a legendary makeup product and I have heard so many great reviews about it and I'm dying to try it.

Also I have 4 spaces left in my MAC palette and I'm trying to decide which eyeshadows should fill up the last spaces. I think I have all the neutral colours I need so I'm focusing on bright colours, I already have a few different shades or purple so I'm thinking I will go for a bright pink and maybe a deep blue. I can't say exactly what colours I will choose as its hard to judge colours online but I will post a haul whenever I buy them.

Its getting to that time where I am running out of all of my everyday products such as my foundation, eyeliner and concealer. It seems they always run out at the same time and it ends up costing me a small fortune to repurchase them. I will definitely be repurchasing my favourite Charlotte Tilbury foundation which I have raved about in previous posts and I will be buying probably my 10th MAC Liquidlast eyeliner. I have been using the MAC Pro Concealer Palette since the beginning of the year and I have used almost all of it, this product is quite pricey but it is great value for money as it holds 6 different shades of concealer and it has lasted me so long so I will also be buying this again.

Recent OOTD

I feel the need to make up for my lack of posts lately, I love wearing white and bright colours in the summer and I try to wear as little black as possible, so I thought I would post this look from last month before I begin posting my autumn/winter looks in which black and dark colours will be a staple!

jeans - H&M
shoes - River Island

With this outfit I wore muted gold accessories and went for a bold makeup look, wearing super smokey gold eyes and nude lips and I pulled my hair into a sleek pony tail.

Celebrity Fashion

Firstly I must apologise for the lack of blog posts in the last few weeks, I've been quite busy lately and haven't been able to find the time, however I will be getting back in to a regular blogging routine as of now!
So many of my recent blog posts have been about makeup which is of course my favourite subject, but unfortunately I haven't bought any new makeup since my last haul so as you can imagine I'm pining for a trip to the MAC counter. I've been trying a lot of different eye makeup looks lately which I would love to share with you but I can't because I lost my phone which means no camera!!! Basically this is another excuse as to why I haven't been posting on here, so with my lack of new makeup and OOTD's and FOTD's, I decided to write this post on which celebrity fashion I have been loving this past month!

Does J.Lo ever get it wrong? At 45 years old J.Lo is still keeping her style young, fun and fresh and she's even rocking pigtails, possibly inspired by Ariana Grande. Some may not agree but I think she looks amazing in both of these outfits,  I wish I could dress like this everyday and those orange court shoes are on my wish list!

I am so obsessed with Kylie Jenners style, this year she has really made an impact and truly put her self on the map! In these images she is rocking denim and leather and although this isn't something I would wear I think she looks fabulous, I don't know of anyone else who could make a massively oversized shirt look so good!

Its so hard for me to write a celebrity fashion blog with out talking about the Kardashian/Jenners because I love just about everything they wear, I'm especially loving the more 'casual' looks they have sported lately. Here is Kylie again wearing another of my favourite fashion items, denim boyfriend jeans, I love how she has dressed them up with a silk cami.

Again everything is on point here for the autumn season! leather, sweat pants, crop tops, points - big inspiration for my autumn/winter wardrobe!

I love Nicki Minaj's new toned down look, she still manages to stand out from the crowd with out the crazy wigs and outfits. I love her more than ever now!

Here is Iman, Rihanna and Naomi Campbell in a Balmain Campaign. If I became a millionaire one of the first things I would do is revamp my wardrobe and kit myself out in Balmain and hire Oliver Rousteing as my stylist. This campaign oozes everything I am loving this season, khaki green, leather, embellishment and leopard print which never seems to go out of fashion!
