My Ayia Napa Wardrobe

I have been home a week now and I have finally pulled myself together and decided its time to write a new blog post. As you can imagine I have the holiday blues and this past week I've been trying to make the most of the english weather, sunbathing with my eyes closed and pretending I'm still on holiday. I had the time of my life in Ayia Napa, I loved every minute of it, It exceeded my expectations and there was so much to do, I would definitely consider returning next year. As sad as I am to be home, I am now excited to make lots of plans for next summer and booking up the next girls holiday!

Holiday Scents

The offers at Victorias Secret are brilliant, I mixed and matched five full sized products from the VS Fantasies range and paid only $30. I have had various scents and products from this range and they are all so different and beautiful but my absolute favourite has to be 'Coconut Passion' because I really love the smell of coconut and it reminds me of being on holiday abroad. I bought 'Cocunut Passion' fragrance mist and body wash, 'Strawberries & Champagne' fragrance mist, 'Love Spell' hydrating body lotion and 'Pure Seduction' foaming body wash and shave gel. I have decided to save all of these till I go on holiday next week because I love opening lots of new products on holiday, I think it makes it even more exciting. Unfortunately I may not look like a Victorias Secret model but I will be smelling like one in Ayia Napa.

As much as I love my VS body mists I think a statement holiday fragrance is a must and 'Bronze Goddess' by Estee Lauder is on my wish list this year (in fact it was on my wish list year but I never got round to buying it). This limited edition scent returns every spring/summer and I can't wait to get my hands on it, I love everything about it the name, the packaging and most importantly the smell. This fragrance oozes summer, it is so powerful and feminine. It is descried as a 'solar floral' scent, blended with Bergamot, warm Amber, Tiare Flower and Vanilla combined with delicious creamy Coconut.

Holiday/Beach Fashion

The countdown is almost over and my holiday is only a week away and as you can imagine I am extremely excited. My holiday wardrobe is complete and I have officially banned my self from looking at any more clothes on Instagram. I have a blog post planned for when I get back from holiday (not that I want to think about that) which will include my holiday outfits, but for now here is a sneak peek of some of the colours, patterns and textures I will be wearing...

As you can see my holiday wardrobe is like a cocktail of bright colours,  gem stones and diamantes, but I am not willing to give it all away yet. Instead I thought I would put together some of my favourite celebrity beach looks I have found whilst browsing the web...

Vanessa White (The Saturdays) posted this picture on her Instagram which I believe is a look from a new music video she is shooting. This picture immediately caught my eye, I love the colours, jewellery, headband  - everything! It is definitely a look I would go for!

I have been buying lots of kaftans and kimonos this year, I think they are a holiday necessity. From the above pictures we can see that Kim certainly knows how to create the perfect bikini/cover up combination!

This yellow dress looks beautiful against Rihannas skin tone

I could have included so many images of Rihanna looking flawless at the beach but I narrowed it down to these two. In the first image she pulls of an extremely vibrant yellow maxi dress which looks beautiful against her skin tone. In the second image Rihanna goes for a laid back look as she wears shades of blue in a tassel and cut out bikini, a straw hat, natural beachy waves and a vidid red lipstick.

Recent Makeup Look

This is a makeup look I created to attend a wedding, the main focus of the look was the eye makeup, I was going for an 'Arabic' look, I teamed that with my regular face routine and my favourite MAC lipstick 'Pure Zen' which goes with so many looks. I used the MAC eyeshadows 'Plum Dressing' and 'Amber Lights' these stunning colours worked beautifully together and really complimented my green eyes.
Unfortunately as much as I tried to capture the beauty of this eyeshadow, my camera didn't pick up the colours and attention to detail as well as I would have hoped but I will be recreating the look and posting a tutorial soon.

I'm wearing
Dress - Chic Boutique Darlington
Earrings - Ebay

(I created natural looking curls in my hair using GHD's)

MAC Makeup Haul

So my relative went to Las Vegas 2 weeks ago and as you may know MAC makeup along with many other things is much cheaper over there and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to stock up on some makeup I wanted and save a little money at the same time. Originally I was intending not to use any new buys till I went on holiday but I went to a wedding last weekend and I couldn't resist a perfect opportunity to play with my new makeup with out it going to waste. However I have managed to keep 2 products in their packaging and I can't wait to try them out on holiday. Below are my thoughts on the products I have tried and the reasons why I wanted them in my makeup collection.

(Images below were added after use)

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter 'Light Boost' - You may have seen this on my 'May Makeup Wish List' I have wanted this for some time now and I'm pleased to say it was worth the wait. I am loving this product, its a fantastic highlighter; it conceals and brightens dark under eye circles like no other highlighter I have used. This product ticks all the boxes and I would say its as good if not better that YSL Touche Eclat.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot 'Bare Study' - This is the second time I have purchased this product, you may have seen me mention I once forgot to replace the lid and it dried out. This is probably the most sheer colour in the paint pot collection, it is described as 'soft beige with gold pearl' this colour is very delicate which is why I use it as a highlighter on my brow and cheek bones etc. I wouldn't use this product as a eyeshadow primer because in my opinion it doesn't hold colour as well as 'Painterly' paint pot.

Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot 'Constructavist' - This is a product I have seen used a lot on youtube tutorials so I had to have it, so far I have used it once and was impressed. This is described as 'metallic brown with red pearl' it can be used on its own blended out for a easy go-to smokey eye or can be used as a base for eyeshadows, 'Constructavist' is a similar consistency to 'Painterly' and holds other products well which means for longer lasting eyeshadow. When I used this I applied MAC 'Satin Taupe' eyeshadow on top and found that using a darker base underneath this eyeshadow brought out its true colour, so I am excited to see how it will work with some other dark and metallic eye shadows.

MAC Eyeshadow 'Soft Brown' - This eyeshadow is not available online or at MAC counters in the UK so I was pleased to finally get my hands on it all the way from Vegas. I use to find matte neutral shades boring and would look over them at the counter but when you come to understand blending and transition you realise that these colours are important and now I have 5 matte neutral eyeshadows and I use them all. This colour is described as 'soft golden peachy brown' it is quite similar to MAC 'Texture' but is lighter, has less orange tones and is completely matte where as 'Texture' has some shimmer and like 'Texture' this product also works for contouring.
(Only available at MAC Pro counters in the UK)

MAC Lipstick 'Candy Yum-Yum' - This is one of those colours you can't miss at the counter, it has to be one of the brightest MAC lipsticks and I can see it becoming one of their best sellers. It is simply described as 'neon pink' and it is a matte finish. I haven't yet used this colour but as you can imagine I am very excited to try it.

MAC Bronzing Powder 'Matte Bronze' - I'm not sure if I have ever had a bronzing powder by MAC or if I have only tried their 'Mineralize Skin Finish Powder' because I have been buying MAC for so long. This colour is described as 'bare shouldered' bronze - I'm not sure what that means. I haven't yet used this product because its one which I have managed to keep sealed till my holiday so I shall let you know my thoughts when I have tried it out.

MAC Cremeblend Blush 'So Sweet, So Easy' - I don't usually go for cream blushers but I have recently been using a YSL cream blush I own which is lovely and I like to change up my blusher so the more choices the better. I attempted to buy this once before but was told it was out of stock, so I'm guessing it is popular, the colour is described as 'bright yellow pink' and looks like my perfect shade of blush. This is another product I am waiting to use so look out for a review.

Update

Firstly I must apologise for my lack of blogging during the past 2 weeks, I've had so much to do and unfortunately I haven't had the time, one of the reasons being is that my holiday is fast approaching, it seems the time has gone nowhere and I can't believe I'm now saying I will be in Ayia Napa in only two weeks. As you can imagine, when I haven't been working I've been forever holiday shopping and working hard at the gym. However I'm glad to finally have some time to blog and I have so much I want to talk about and so many ideas for new blog posts, including whats inside my holiday wardrobe (which I love) but that might have to wait until after my holiday! Now that I have explained myself you can look forward to my next blog post which is much more interesting because it is a MAC makeup haul and we all love MAC, the post will be up sometime tonight so keep your eyes peeled.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner Red Carpet Look At MMVA's

Last night Kendall and Kylie Jenner made yet another appearance on the red carpet, this time it was to host the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto. Once again the sisters did not fail to stand out from the crowd but it was Kendalls dress which stirred some controversy with in the media. You have probably already seen these photos on your news feed countless times today but I couldn't help but voice my opinion on Kendalls risque choice of outfit. Kendalls dress was from Italian designer Fausto Puglis' Fall 13/14 collection and if you know of this brand you would have already guessed the designer of this dress judging by the statement intricate embellishment, which older sister Kim Kardashian is often seen wearing. I can't say the dress isn't beautiful; crisp white, elaborate jewels and striking purple lining - but in my opinion those higher than thigh slits takes away from what is potentially a very classy dress. Kendall probably knew the reaction she would get from wearing something so revealing and couldn't care less, I mean this is nothing compared to that Marc Jacobs catwalk ensemble. Kendalls outfit may have upset a few people but with legs like those who can blame her for showing them off.

Lets not forget about Kylie who we can see has gone back to black after recently sporting blue and green dip-dye hair. Like her sister, Kylie was also sparkling and looked like a bronze goddess in her beaded and sequin orange mini dress (I have done some research and I can't find the designer of the dress however I can see she is wearing Christian Louboutin heels) but as beautiful and elegant as Kylie looks, Kendall truly stole the spotlight on this occasion.

I struggled to decide which look I prefer, but I eventually came to the decision that if it wasn't for those super high slits Kendall would have been my winner but I just can't agree with revealing that much skin at any age, in which case Kylie gets my vote by keeping it classy, sophisticated and age appropriate.

Which look do you prefer?

T-shirt - Cheeki Boutique
Jeans - Zara
Shoes - River Island
 Bag - Louis Vuitton
Sunglasses - ChloƩ

As we all know North East weather is so unpredictable and yesterday was another one of those in between days, I would hate to be caught in the rain in a pair of shorts. So for a day shopping I opted for this outfit, I love this celebrity inspired T-shirt I am wearing as seen on the beautiful Cheryl Cole, when I seen it online I had to have it and I knew exactly how I would wear it. I bought the T-shirt from an online shop called Cheeki Boutique which is run by my friend. For more gorgeous celeb inspired clothes and bikinis 'Like' Cheeki Boutique on Facebook and follow @cheekiboutique on twitter and instagram.

I had to get a close up on my sunglasses, I bought these 2 years ago and have found myself wearing them a lot lately after putting them away last year and replacing them with my Ray Bans. However this year I am thinking the bigger the better when it comes to sunglasses and these ones are BIG and so on trend, I love them and I will definitely be wearing them in Ayia Napa this summer!

June Makeup Wish List

Last month I wrote my 'May Makeup Wish List' and although I still haven't bought all the products I mentioned I am now lusting over some new makeup finds. Some of the products I mentioned last month include the NARS 'Turkish Delight' lipgloss with I have since bought and you can find my review here. In that wish list I also mentioned the MAC Prep + Prime highlighter and 'Candy Yum Yum' lipstick which I have recently purchased and I am currently waiting for them to be delivered, I bought them along with some other MAC products and I am so excited for them to arrive so that I can try them out and write some new reviews. As for the other products I mentioned I would still like to buy them but I am not desperate for them at this moment in time however when I do buy them you can expect a review.
This list is much smaller than my previous and although in my opinion you can never have enough makeup I am quite happy with my collection at the moment and I seem to have everything I need. So for now here is my small 'June Makeup Wish List'...

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation - Obviously this beautiful foundation is at the top of my wish list and I need it in my holiday makeup bag. I don't think I need to praise up this product anymore than I already have in my review which you can read here

MAC 'Blue Brown' Pigment - I knew this was a popular product from MAC but after watching various makeup tutorials featuring this pigment I now know exactly why it is in high demand. The name is self-explanatory of the colour, it is an usual colour but it is so gorgeous. At £17.00 MAC pigments are pricey and may seem a lot to hand out for one product but then again they are amazing and they last so long as only a very small amount is needed in one application. This is definitely the item I will be buying next time I visit a MAC counter.

Unfortunately thats all I am putting on my makeup wish list for now, I have decided to calm down on the compulsive makeup buying for a little while but I am sure I will be back with a new wish list soon, I give it 2 weeks!

My Eye Makeup Rules

If you hadn't already realised I am a bit (a lot) of a makeup fanatic. I'm not ashamed to admit I like to wear makeup everyday and I am one of those people who won't go to the corner shop with out a little makeup, thats just me! When I have a night out I don't only look forward to getting out and having a drink and a dance, I get just as excited to do my makeup (my eye makeup in particular) and I like my makeup to be perfect, so this could mean sitting in front of the mirror for an hour and half - I'm not going to lie I have probably spent 2 hours perfecting my makeup in the past and then of course there will be regular top ups through out the night. The makeup must go with my outfit, the lipstick must compliment my eyeshadow, these little things are important. Obviously not every girl is as obsessed with makeup as me but if you are going to wear it, you may as well wear it properly, otherwise its pointless. We all know about the major makeup faux pass; the tidemark, blusher overdose and being plain orange to name a few, but when it comes down to eyeshadow some will simply apply a block of colour on their lids and believe they're good to go. However eyeshadow is designed to compliment your eyes, make them pop, there are shades created for your eye colour in particular and applying that one block of colour is more likely to distract from the beauty of your eyes. So there are few things to consider when using eye makeup; colour, contrast, eye shape and size, application and most importantly blending!

Eye colour
So lets begin with colour, every persons eye colour is different, there are different shades of blue, green brown etc and what eyeshadow may look stunning on someone else's eyes may not look as great on your own. This is why you should find the shades that suit you, this doesn't mean to say you have to stick with a select few shades you can incorporate a colour that suits you with something that doesn't necessarily make your eyes stand out but gives them some definition. I have 'greeny blue' eyes, some days they will look really green and some days they look more on the blue side. I know that purple, pink and red colours compliment my eyes because they are opposite to green on a colour wheel which means these colours contrast, however they are not the colours I would opt for every day and such vibrant shades may clash with an outfit I am wearing, so I tend to go for browns, bronze and gold tones which contrast with blue on the colour chart. If you are uncertain on which eyeshadows may compliment your eyes you should ask at a makeup counter, this is what I done at MAC a few years ago and they recommended some colours for me, there are also lots of makeup tutorials on youtube for particular eye colours.

Here is a colour wheel, find the shade closest to your eye colour and the shades opposite that are contrasting colours which will compliment your eyes!

Eye shape
Eyes come in all different shapes and sizes and this is something to consider when applying eye shadow. Take a look at the picture below, what shape are your eyes? I would say I have 'almond eyes' which are pretty easy to work with. However for some eye shapes there are techniques which should be avoided, for example if you are someone with 'close set eyes' you should steer away from using dark shades in the inner corners of your eyes as this will draw them even closer together or if you have 'deep set eyes' I recommend you stick to using lighter colours on your eyes because dark colours will make them appear even deeper.

Blending
Blending is definitely the easiest step in eye makeup application but it is the step that people over look the most. I can not stress enough how important blending is, I see so many girls have missed out on this crucial step and I just want to get my MAC 217 and blend blend blend! Think eye makeup what springs to mind...what would you ask for if you were having your make up done by a pro... smokey eyes, always, and let me tell you theres no smoke with out blending. I think I have made myself clear.

Colour placement
Light/vibrant/metallic/shimmery colours - Should be used as the base colour, this colour is the main focus, applied on the lid or/and possibly on the lower lash line.

Darkest colours - Should be used in the outer corners and in the crease/socket to create definition and possibly on the lower lash line. NEVER on the brow bone!

Light/pale/sheer colours - Should be used as a brow bone and inner corner highlight to open the eyes.

Transition colours - This colour is used to blend and fade out the darker crease/socket colour.

An eye make up look I created on myself

Eyeliner
Lets not forget to mention eyeliner which is possibly used more regularly than eyeshadow. Eyeliner can certainly be tricky to apply but practise makes perfect and If it is used correctly it can really open up your eyes, however if it is applied too thick it will make your eyes appear smaller and tired. Eyeliner should be applied thinly from the inner corner and gradually become thicker towards the outer corner and to finish a flick should be created, which I like to call the 'feline flick'. This can be worn on its own or with eyeshadow however I would never just line my waterline with out applying eyeshadow as this really tiers my eyes.
